There is a page-three girl with a difference in the Guardian, the Daily Express and the Daily Telegraph.

All of them devote the page to former supermodel Carla Bruni, who is dating French president Nicolas Sarkozy.

The Guardian describes the couple as a "left bank girl" with a "right bank boy", while the Independent notes she has dated Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton.

The Express quotes the twice-married president's mother as saying she has "had enough of brides".

'Data scandal'

A big red L fills the front page of the Times as it reports the loss of the details of 3 million learner drivers from a secure facility in the US.

"What the L is going on?" asks the Daily Mirror of "another data scandal".

The Daily Telegraph reports on a survey suggesting 100,000 young people in the UK are unemployed because of the new wave of Eastern European immigrants.

It says the Ernst & Young study finds that while the influx boosted the economy, it might have reduced pay rises.

'Xenophobic press'

The Daily Express also leads with a story about immigration.

It suggests 166,000 asylum seekers might be allowed to stay in the UK as part of an amnesty to reduce a backlog of cases waiting to be heard.

In an editorial, the Independent attacks government plans to cut tourist visas to three months and make families pay a bond for visiting relatives.

The paper believes the government is dancing to the tune of a xenophobic right-wing press.

Mother speaks

Under the headline Three Lines, the Sun notes new England football manager Fabio Capello managed just three sentences in his team's language.

The paper says he told reporters he would be speaking English by January when he starts work with the players.

The Times reveals a new twist in the story of former newsreader Ed Mitchell, driven to homelessness by debt.

His mother tells the paper he had in fact been living with her until September and often visits to get washed and do his laundry.
