Campaigners against the Aberdeen bypass will meet Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson on Wednesday.

Members of Road Sense want to find out exactly how the decision was made on the route, as well as having cost and timescale questions.

The campaigners are meeting with Mr Stevenson in Edinburgh.

A completion date of 2012 has been targeted for the bypass, which aims to ease traffic and improve business. A public inquiry will be held next year.

William Walton, chair of Road Sense, said: "We would like to thank the minister for agreeing to meet with us. We have a large number of questions to ask on a range of subjects."

The 28-mile proposed Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route would run from Charleston, near Stonehaven, to Blackdog, north of Aberdeen, with a fast link between Stonehaven and Milltimber.

It could cost between £295m and £395m.
