A man has been arrested on charges of killing his own tenant after being told the 45-year-old had raped his teenage daughter and made her pregnant.

The father, reportedly in his 50s, turned himself into police in Delhi, India, and detailed how he cooked dinner for the alleged rapist before torturing him by repeatedly burning his genitals with hot tongs and eventually killing him, The Indian Express reports.

Police said: “Based on his statement, we sent a team to the spot and recovered the body. It has been sent for a post mortem examination and his family has been informed.

“A case of murder has been registered and the man has been arrested,” the police said.

The father, who has not been named for legal reasons, told police: “I burned his genitals once, he screamed. I did it again, he shuddered. When I did it the third time, he did not move”.

The father has been quoted as saying he did not mean to kill his tenant, though earlier statements from police said the man had been planning the murder since he discovered his daughter had allegedly been raped.

Police said the attack happened two months before the father allegedly killed his tenant, who was a medicine supplier.

While the father was away from his home, the medicine supplier called at his house and, on discovering the 14-year-old daughter was at home alone, allegedly raped her and threatened her with severe consequences if she told anyone about the attack.

The daughter then discovered she was pregnant less than two months later.

“She started complaining of morning sickness and dizziness. We took her to a doctor and we were told that she was pregnant. We were shocked,” the teenager’s mother is quoted as saying.

“She stopped smiling. She stopped eating properly or going out with her friends,” the mother added.

Reports around the case are currently conflicting, with some suggesting the teenager’s family found out about the assault on the day she discovered she was pregnant. However, other reports suggest the family found out about the crime on the day of the attack, but withheld the information from police for fear it would bring shame on their family.
