The shoulder injury Marcos Rojo suffered in the the 1-0 derby defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday is not as severe as first believed. United had been concerned he could miss up to three months, but the defender has said that he was lucky and he should miss only two to three matches, according to his father. Marcos Rojo may be out for less time than feared with a dislocated shoulder after the defender’s father reportedly said his son would miss only two or three games. If that was the case he could return for Manchester United’s visit to Arsenal on 22 November.
Rojo suffered the injury in the second half of the game after colliding with Martín Demichelis. United’s Argentinian came off worse, requiring oxygen as he was taken off on a stretcher. Rojo suffered the injury in the 1-0 derby defeat by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Although there was concern at the club he could be out for a minimum of six weeks, Rojo’s father told a TV station in his native Argentina, TN.com: “It is not too severe. He will miss two or three games.”
Louis van Gaal stated afterwards that the injury was a dislocated shoulder and Rojo would not be able to play in Saturday’s visit of Crystal Palace.
