A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a policeman died while on duty in north London. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a policeman died on duty in north-west London.
Police had been called to a residential address in Wembley about 1745 GMT to deal with a domestic incident. The 48-year-old police officer collapsed trying to arrest a man following a domestic incident at Brinkburn Gardens in Wembley.
They initially arrested the man for assault on an officer but he was later arrested for murder after another officer collapsed outside the house. Police were called to the address at about 1745 GMT on Boxing Day.

Home Office minister Tony McNulty said: "I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of a police officer while on duty with the Metropolitan Police.
"Events such as this highlight the dangers that our police officers face every day when protecting the public.
"This is a tragic event and I offer my deepest sympathy to the officer's family, friends and colleagues."

Police officers across England and Wales are currently engaged in a pay dispute with the Home Office. The Police Federation has called for the resignation of Home Secretary Jacqui Smith over her refusal to backdate a 2.5% pay award.
Norman Brennan, head of the campaign group Protect the Protectors, said the Boxing Day incident highlighted the dangers police officers faced.
He said: "I hope that the tragic death of one of my fellow colleagues will prick the conscience of the home secretary and remind her that incidents such as this can occur on what seem to be the most routine and mundane of jobs."
