Four men accused of killing a British teenager on a Greek island six years ago will not face further legal action, his family have told the BBC.

Matthew Cryer's family believe he was attacked by up to four staff outside a club in Zante in 2008.

A UK coroner said 17-year-old Matthew suffered 20 injuries and had been unlawfully killed.

His family, of Killamarsh, Derbyshire, said they were "devastated" to be told of the Greek court's decision.

The family's insurer has told them it cannot fund further legal action but the Greek prosecutor has told them it may appeal against the decision.

At the time, Greek police said Matthew had died from excessive drinking but an inquest in Chesterfield in 2009 found he was unlawfully killed.

It has been claimed he was dragged from inside the bar in the beach resort of Laganas, attacked and allowed to fall down steep steps outside.

His father David said: "It's not over with - I'll keep going and going and going for my son."

Matthew was on his first summer holiday with a group of friends when he was fatally injured.
