London Ambulance car crashes into restaurant

An ambulance car on an emergency call crashed into the side of a south London restaurant, injuring two paramedics and causing extensive damage. The rapid response vehicle hit the building in Battersea Bridge Road, Battersea, just after 08:45 GMT. London Ambulance Service said one member of staff suffered a hand injury and the other was treated for stomach and back pain. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to the Met Police. Scattered bricks An ambulance spokesman said: "One of cars was involved in a road traffic accident at 08:46 on Battersea Bridge Road. "It was on its way to a serious incident nearby." He said both paramedics were taken to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for treatment. The front of the vehicle was crushed in the impact which also scattered bricks from the outside wall of the restaurant. |
