State Department warns travelers about worldwide terror threat
Version 0 of 1. It’s the Friday before Christmas, but the State Department is not spreading holiday cheer. The agency sent a downright dreary travel advisory warning Americans that the threat of terrorism is everywhere. In light of the “lone wolf attack” at a cafe in Sydney, Australia this week, State said Americans need to be “extra cautious.” “An analysis of past attacks and threat reporting strongly suggests a focus by terrorists not only on the targeting of U.S. government facilities but also on hotels, shopping areas, places of worship and schools, among other targets during or coinciding with this holiday period,” State warns. “U.S. citizens abroad should be mindful that terrorists groups and those inspired by them can pose unpredictable threats in public venues.” So be alert for “signs of danger,” State says. Well, happy holidays.
