Drivers stranded
Overnight, roads were particularly badly hit in Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Cheshire.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United fans slept on coaches when they got stuck overnight in snow on the M62 near Rochdale heading back from their 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.
Helen and Martin Roach, who live outside Sheffield, took in a surgeon and the head of telecoms for Public Health England after they became stranded in the snow outside their house.
"[They] spent the night on inflatable camping mats on our kitchen floor... We dug their cars out this morning and sent them on their way."
Liverpool and Leeds Bradford airports have reopened after closing on Friday evening.
Manchester Airport has returned to normal after flights were diverted there from Liverpool and Leeds, causing some delays.
