Man charged over serious sexual assault in Edinburgh

A 22-year-old man has been charged following a serious sexual assault on a woman in Edinburgh on Friday night.

The attack is thought to have happened between 22:30 and 23:00 in the Abbeyhill area of the city.

The man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

Police said they were still eager to trace a couple who were believed to have seen the victim with a man in Spring Gardens before the incident.
