Woman’s body found in Devon dock

Police are trying to identify a woman whose body was found in the dock area of Topsham, in Devon.

Officers were called to Ferry Road at around noon after the body of a woman aged about 60 to 75 was discovered.

Devon and Cornwall police said: “It is believed that the woman had been in the water for some time but the death is being treated as unexplained.”

The woman was described as white, about 5ft 4in tall, of medium to large build, with blue or hazel eyes and grey hair.

She had some pink nail varnish on her nails, though this was worn. She was wearing medium-sized gold hooped earrings, black trousers and a black buttoned cardigan over a dark top with pictures of blue and yellow bows.

A force spokesman said: “Please contact police if you believe a friend or relative matching this description is missing, or if this person is a bed and breakfast or hotel customer that has not returned.”
