Ian Watkins and girlfriend shared child abuse fantasies, court told

Version 0 of 1. The former rock star Ian Watkins shared fantasies of having a child with a girlfriend so that they would have access to a baby to sexually abuse, a court has heard. A video featuring Watkins, who has been jailed for 35 years for child abuse, and girlfriend Joanne Mjadzelics was found when police investigated the ex-Lostprophets singer. Mjadzelics, 39, from Doncaster, south Yorkshire, denies four charges of possessing indecent images of children, two charges of distributing indecent images of children and one charge of encouraging Watkins to send her an indecent image of a child. Jim Davies, prosecuting, told Cardiff crown court the video showed Watkins and Mjadzelics having sex. “While they were having sex they were talking about him getting her pregnant so they could have a child to abuse,” he said. The jury heard that the video was made in 2008 – four years before Watkins was arrested for a string of sex offences. Police also found “disgusting and abhorrent” online conversations between Watkins and Mjadzelics that took place in May 2011. During the conversations, indecent images of children were sent by Watkins to Mjadzelics and she sent replies saying she wanted to “play for real and ruin little sluts’ lives”, the court heard. In another exchange, Mjadzelics told Watkins: “Part of me feels you get off on showing me stuff you can get away with, knowing that is what I have wanted since forever.” She also told Watkins she thought they had a “deep connection that couldn’t be matched” and signed off one message: “Child molesters till we die.” Davies said there was no dispute from Mjadzelics that she was in possession of four indecent images of children, had sent an indecent image of a child and had encouraged Watkins to send her an image of child rape. But he said she claimed she kept the images to trap Watkins and bring him to justice. She denies seven charges in relation to the images. The trial continues. |
