A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of terror offences as part of an ongoing investigation into conflict overseas has been released on bail. | |
The man was arrested under section 11 of the Terrorism Act in Crawley, West Sussex, by officers from the south-east counter-terrorism unit (SECTU) and Sussex police on Wednesday morning, and a residential property was searched. | |
The arrest was not linked to any immediate threat to the UK, police said. | |
The man was released on Wednesday evening and was bailed until May, a police spokesman said. | |
A SECTU spokesman said: “We are committed to intervening in activities such as this, which cause concern to local communities. We will continue to work with our partners and local communities in order to protect them from individuals and organisations which may seek to exploit them for extremist purposes.” | |
