The test results are expected to be known on Wednesday. Pontypridd AM Mick Antoniw said: "My understanding is that a man from Pontypridd who has recently returned from Africa has been admitted to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital as a purely precautionary measure.
"There is a person who has been admitted to hospital, who has been in an area where Ebola is present and who is displaying some symptoms," confirmed a spokesperson for Public Health Wales. "The patient is in isolation and will remain there until tests have been completed and his illness diagnosed.
"In the meantime, we can take a great deal of comfort in the professionalism of our NHS in Wales and its staff, who have responded so quickly and comprehensively by implementing their public protection plan."
