World leaders including David Cameron and Angela Merkel joined François Hollande for a huge march in Paris yesterday that united millions in condemning last week's murders and showing unity in the face of terrorism.

“Today, Paris is the capital of the world,” said President Hollande. “Our entire country will rise up towards something better.”

Dozens of countries around the world saw similar demonstrations and in London, famous landmarks including Tower Bridge and the London Eye were lit up in the colours of the French flag.
