Security alert in Belfast city centre caused by 'innocent object'

Police have said a security alert in Belfast city centre has ended.

Army bomb experts had been tasked to an alert at the back of Boots in Fountain Street.

Police said a suspicious object that was found was a "completely innocent object".

Ch Insp Robert Murdie said: "I would like to thank shoppers and staff within the premises for their co-operation and patience throughout the incident."
