China: 22 People Missing After Boat Capsizes in River

Rescuers cut through the bottom of an upended tugboat on Friday to free a Chinese interpreter and searched for 22 missing people, including eight foreigners, after the vessel capsized in the Yangtze River, the state-run Xinhua News Agency and officials said. Passengers from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India and Japan were among the missing after the tugboat overturned Thursday afternoon during a test voyage in the Fubei Channel of the river in the eastern province of Jiangsu, Xinhua said. |
