Tributes paid to Gloucester pub machete victim

A teenager who died in a machete attack in Gloucester has been described as "brave" and "kind" by his family.

Zacary Evans, 19, died outside The Pike and Musket pub, in Tuffley, at about 00:40 GMT on Saturday.

Gloucestershire Police said a 44-year-old local man, arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday, was still being questioned.

Detectives said they were still looking for the weapon used, which is believed to be a 2ft-long (60cm) machete.

A police spokesman said three men were attacked.

A 22-year-old local man, who was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with serious injuries, is now in a stable condition.

An 18-year-old man received minor injuries.

Mr Evans' family issued a statement, paying tribute to a "truly wonderful son, grandson, boyfriend and friend" and described him as a "gifted musician".

"Zac would always go out of his was way to make someone feel happy," they said.

"He was very proud and close to his family, friends and girlfriend Beth, and would step in to help anyone if they were in trouble.

"He was one of the bravest, kindest young people, [we] have ever had the privilege to meet.

"The fact he was our son, was an added bonus."

Extra Police and community support officer (PCSO) patrols have been put on in the Tuffley area to "reassure" people, a police spokesman added.
