The operation to find the 62-year-old man is continuing, the RNLI said. The body of the man, who has not been named but lives locally, was found on Middleton Sands in Morecambe.
Kevin Jackson, lifeboat operations manager at RNLI Morecambe, said: "We will keep going until we find him. It will be a difficult job."

The RNLI resumed the search and were helped by the Coastguard and Mountain Rescue Team throughout the operation.
