A man has been charged with the murder of a teenager who died during a machete attack outside a pub. Ewen Reynolds, 44, will appear before magistrates in Cheltenham on Tuesday accused of killing 19-year-old Zac Evans. Evans, who ran his own business as a painter and decorator, died in an incident at the Pike and Musket pub in Tuffley, Gloucester, in the early hours of Saturday. Reynolds, of Tuffley, is also charged with attempted murder in relation to an alleged assault on a second man during the same incident. A 22-year-old man who was injured in the incident has now been discharged from Gloucestershire Royal hospital. Police stressed that the incident was not linked to terrorism after rumours circulated on social media. DCI Steve Porter, who is leading the inquiry, said: “Although a man has now been charged the investigation is still in its early stages and I continue to appeal to anyone with information to call Gloucestershire police.” |
