Lives and homes were in danger from an out of control bushfire burning in Perth’s north on Tuesday evening.

An emergency warning was issued for people in the western part of Pinjar in the city of Wanneroo.

“You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive,” the Department of Fire and Emergency Services warned.

Tuesday’s alert level was upgraded because the fire crossed Old Yanchep Road, DFES said.

Homes on Old Yanchep Road from Sintra Road to Wesco Road, and Perry Road between Sintra Road and Dasypogon Road, including Nisa Road, were under threat.

The fire started south of Wesco Road near Hopkins Road.

Flames were moving in a north-easterly direction at one kilometre an hour.

A watch and act alert remained in place for people to the north of the area in Wanneroo, including Carabooda and Emerald Valley.

“There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching the area and conditions are changing,” DFES warns.

“You need to leave or get ready to actively defend.”
