Florida woman ‘drowned puppy in airport bathroom’ after staff said it was too young to fly
Version 0 of 1. A Florida woman has been charged with animal abuse for allegedly drowning a puppy in an airport bathroom, after she was told it was not allowed to fly. Cynthia Anderson, 56, attempted to board a flight from Nebraska airport on Friday with two small dogs in crates and three puppies. Staff told her that while the adult pair was cleared for travel, the babies – aged three weeks or less – were deemed too young to fly. As the other two puppies were picked up by the woman’s parents, it is unknown why the third – a Doberman - was not spared, Grand Island Police Captain Dean Elliot told The Orlando Sentinel. Following failed attempts to smuggle the dog on-board, she was later seen entering a bathroom, before another woman reported finding a dead Doberman puppy in the toilet. The Grand Island Central Nebraska Humane Society, who aided the police investigation, discovered water in the puppy's lungs and concluded it had drowned. The organisation is now caring for the remaining puppies, and will consider the condition of the two other dogs at Anderson's parents' house to decide who owns the puppies. Laurie Dethloff, executive director with the Humane Society, said the puppies are “doing great” and “are adjusting well.“ Anderson was out on bail and is being held at Hall County Jail on charges of animal abuse. |
