Version 0 of 1.

A fire engine has overturned while it was on its way to deal with a road accident in Suffolk.

The engine crashed at Onehouse near Stowmarket at about 09:00 GMT, knocking one crew member unconscious.

Suffolk Police said ice may have been a factor and they were in the process of recovering the vehicle.

The engine, from Stowmarket, was responding to a two-vehicle crash at Stowmarket Road, Shelland, in which several people were taken to hospital.

Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening, according to police.

The fire engine ended up on its side on Lower Road, Onehouse and the other crew members were uninjured.

Mark Sanderson, deputy chief fire officer, said: "Our focus right now is on supporting our crew members and ensuring their families know they are safe.

"One crew member was injured in the collision and has subsequently been taken to hospital and, whilst we are still waiting for more information regarding his condition, we do not believe this to be serious."
