Video shows New York police officer 'pulling gun on youngsters playing with snowballs'

A New York police officer has been caught on camera apparently pointing his gun at at teenagers taking part in a snow ball fight. “Don’t f——-g move, guys,” the officer from New Rochelle shouts in one of two clips that were sent to the Talk of the Sound blog. Two teens can be seen in the video kneeling with their hands in the air. The officer frisks both of them before ordering them to stand up. “They were having a snowball fight,” the woman recording the incident says. “This group of guys was having a snowball fight and now a cop has a gun on them.” New Rochelle's police department has so far refused to comment on the video. According to the blog, local sources had confirmed that the officer was called to reports of a snowball fight. The footage shows two police cars, though only one officer can be seen in the clip. The blog reported that its believed the incident probably happened on Wednesday, in the wake of winter storm Juno. The website said that Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson and Council Member Jared Rice had been raising the issue of police training in the context of the Eric Garner and Michael Brown grand jury decisions. Mr Rice has asked that Police Commissioner Patrick Carroll consider issuing body cameras. |
