A court in the Indian state of West Bengal has ruled that land acquired for manufacturing the world's cheapest car by Tata Motors was done so legally. An Indian court has dismissed claims that land was aqcuired illegally for the manufacture of the world's cheapest car, the Nano.
The court dismissed all 11 petitions challenging the acquisition process of 997 acres of farmland at Singur - a cluster of villages in West Bengal. Opponents of the plant accuse the government in West Bengal state of taking 997 acres of farmland at Singur by force.
