Version 0 of 1.

South Yorkshire Police "dissuaded" a woman from pursuing a complaint against her partner after he allegedly fractured her skull, it is claimed.

The woman told the police watchdog that officers had not properly investigated numerous allegations she was physically and sexually assaulted by the man.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating her contact with officers in 1995 and 1996.

South Yorkshire Police has been contacted by the BBC for comment.

IPCC Commissioner Kathryn Stone OBE will oversee the case.

A number of officers from the force are already being investigated by the IPCC in a separate inquiry over the handling of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham.
