Secret Service agents under investigation after late-night car crash
Version 0 of 1. Obama administration officials are probing allegations that two senior US Secret Service agents drove a government car into White House security barricades last week after drinking at a late-night party. Secret Service spokesman Robert Hoback said the organisation’s recently appointed director, Joseph Clancy, had been briefed on the incident, which occurred on 4 March. The investigation has been turned over to the Homeland Security Department’s inspector general’s office. Hoback did not provide any additional details. The agency said the two agents had been reassigned to non-supervisory, non-operational jobs. The Washington Post first reported the investigation on Wednesday afternoon. One of the agents under investigation included a top member of Barack Obama’s protective detail, the Post said, citing an official of the agency charged with protecting the president. |
