Taken from Simple Minds’ latest album Big Music, the bold synthpop anthem Midnight Walking touches on themes of exile, people on the move, immigration. “It’s been the story of time. I’m a product of it in terms of having Irish lineage, my family came to Scotland for the same reasons, to earn a living,” says frontman Jim Kerr. That in turn got me thinking of people on the move all over the world, for one reason or other, ‘all those people, marching people, trying to find somewhere to go.’” The video – premiered here – ties up Midnight Walking’s concept neatly. With a series of time-lapse videos, it captures cityscapes, northern lights, battery chickens, bungee jumping and other images that encompass the constantly moving modern world.
