KABUL, Afghanistan — A suicide bomber detonated a car full of explosives on a busy road in downtown Kabul on Wednesday afternoon, killing at least seven people and injuring 36, the Afghan Interior Ministry said. The blast occurred adjacent to a busy taxi stand and across the street from a police station. Most of the dead and wounded appeared to be civilians, the authorities said. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. Just a week ago, an attacker wearing a burqa detonated a suicide vest, killing Matiullah Khan, a powerful police chief and strongman visiting from southern Afghanistan. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the killing. |
