John Ogston named as A947 motorcycle crash victim

A man who died following a crash involving his motorbike and a car on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road, has been named as John Ogston.

Mr Ogston was 54 and from the Banff area of Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services attended the scene of the crash at Plaidy, near Turriff at 07:44, after a black Victory motorbike collided with a grey Audi A1.

Police have now reopened the road which was closed for a number of hours to allow investigations to be carried out.

Insp Ewan Innes said: "Both vehicles were travelling south on the A947 and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision to speak to us.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died and a full collision investigation will be carried out to establish the circumstances."
