A man and a 12-year-old boy suffered burns when their hot-air balloon crashed into electricity cables and caught fire.

The balloon came down in fields near Ruyton-XI-Towns, near Baschurch, Shropshire, on Saturday evening.

The pilot, aged in his 40s, and the boy, who was a passenger, were taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital where they were treated for facial burns.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.

The balloon canopy was draped over live electricity cables when fire crews arrived at the scene just after 1930 BST.

Rescuers had to wait for engineers to cut the power supply before removing the balloon, a spokesman for Shropshire Fire Service said.
