Environmental health officers from Birmingham went into Mojo's, in Selly Oak, saying they had been tipped off it was being used for shisha pipe smoking. Shisha is an Arabic water-pipe in which fruit-scented tobacco is burnt and inhaled through a hose - now illegal under the smoking ban. Officers said lit shisha were discovered and 13 people issued with fixed-penalty notices. Under the smoking ban, shisha, like cigarettes, cannot be smoked in enclosed premises which are open to the public. The site was raided after environmental health officers got a warrant issued by Birmingham Magistrates' Court. |
