The recently discovered novel by iconic American author Harper Lee, “Go Set a Watchman”, will be brought to life by Academy Award-winning actress Reese Witherspoon, who will narrate the book’s audio edition.

“Go Set a Watchman” will be published on 14 July, according to publisher Random House. This will be Ms Witherspoon’s first foray into audio books.

The new novel, which has been the focus of heavy attention since it was revealed earlier this year, features many of the same characters from Ms Lee’s famous and Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “To Kill a Mockingbird”.

“Go Set a Watchman” reportedly was written before Ms Lee wrote “To Kill a Mockingbird”, her only published novel that painted a poignant picture of Southern life in the early 20th Century.

“As a Southerner, it is an honour and privilege to give voice to the Southern characters who inspired my childhood love of reading, Scout and Atticus Finch,” Ms Witherspoon told USA Today. “I am eager for readers to be transported to a pivotal time in American history in the manner that only Harper Lee's gorgeous prose can deliver.”
