Police probe into death of child Child dies in 'tragic accident'

A police investigation has been launched into the death of a child in central Scotland. A two-year-old girl has been found dead in her bedroom in Menstrie in Clackmannanshire.
Officers are investigating the death, which occurred in Menstrie in the Clackmannanshire area. Central Scotland Police said the child, who has yet to be named, died as a result of a "tragic accident" at her home.
Central Scotland Police said that a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal at Alloa. The toddler was discovered by a family member at about 1630 GMT on Tuesday.
Police have not issued further details, the time of the discovery, the sex or age of the child, or whether the death was being treated as suspicious. She was taken to Stirling Royal Infirmary but was pronounced dead by doctors. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Police said that a report into the circumstances of the accident would be submitted to the procurator fiscal at Alloa, as is standard procedure with any sudden death.
The force, which has not issued any further details about the accident, said it was supporting the child's family.
