Steve Wright said he might have had sex with Gemma Adams, Anneli Alderton, Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls on the nights they disappeared in 2006. But Steve Wright told jurors at Ipswich Crown Court he had had nothing to do with their disappearances or deaths and was a "victim of coincidences".
He said it was "quite possible" he picked up Tania Nicol on 30 October, 2006, the day she was last seen alive. Mr Wright said he may have had sex with four of the women on the nights they vanished but was "singularly unfortunate" to have been accused.

'Singularly unfortunate'
Mr Wright's DNA was found on three of the women's bodies. Blood from two of the women was found on one of his coats and fibres from his home or car were found on all five.
But under cross-examination the defendant denied having anything to do with their deaths.
Peter Wright QC, prosecuting, said: "It would seem that in terms of picking up prostitutes in Ipswich you have been singularly unfortunate."
Mr Wright replied: "It would seem so, yes".
