Peter Garrod, 24, of Trearddur Bay, admitted the manslaughter of David Jones, 46, on the basis of diminished responsibility. Mr Jones's body was found at The Blossoms pub in Holyhead. Prosecutors accepted the plea at Caernarfon Crown Court on Monday. The judge, Mrs Justice Nicola Davies, made an interim hospital order and Garrod will be detained until his sentencing in July. Garrod was arrested in December after a stand-off with police when he scaled a nearby building. Much of the town centre was closed off by police as they negotiated with Garrod, who climbed on top of the Holland Inn. Mrs Justice Davies described this as a "very, very tragic death". Addressing Mr Jones's family, she added: "It is imperative that the court has before it as much information as possible before sentence is passed. "I hope you will accept that all are doing their best to ensure this matter is properly dealt with." |
