A Newport woman on trial for the attempted murder of two children has been found not guilty by reason of insanity on both counts. A Newport woman who slit the throats of two children in a drug induced trance has been cleared of attempting to murder them on grounds of insanity.

The court heard Ms Jenkins attacked the children before using the knife on herself. She later told doctors: "The voices told me to do it".
Forensic psychiatrist Dr Philip Joseph told her trial prolonged amphetamine abuse had badly affected Ms Jenkins's mental state so she was convinced the mafia was out to get her.
In the hours before the attack, she was convinced she been sent a "secret message" via US TV show CSI.
She later told Dr Joseph: "I picked up the sharpest knife because I wanted it to be quick and easy."
A jury took one hour to reach a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity on both counts.
