The lorry remains on the carriageway, and has shed its load of potatoes. Motorists faced lengthy diversions as the load of potatoes was cleared and the vehicle recovered.
Highways officials say the road is likely to remain closed until about 08:30 on Thursday morning. It led to long delays on the approach to junction 31 Caerwys. One lane remains closed at St Asaph.
A lengthy diversion is in place, with motorists being asked to take the A5151 through Dyserth to Rhuddlan, then the A525 to rejoin the A55 at St Asaph.
