Version 0 of 1.

1) Here’s a nasty fall for Football Federation Australia’s chairman, Frank Lowy, while presenting the A-League trophy earlier this week. Lowy fortunately recovered but watch carefully as the other man on the podium reacts quickly in making sure the trophy is safe as the 84-year-old plunges earthwards.

2) Beautiful spot of old-school video-game goodness here as the good folk at 8bitFootball recreate Roberto Carlos’ glorious free-kick for Brazil against France in 1997, on the Sensible Soccer game.

3) Andy Murray is in great form on clay before the French Open, having beaten Philipp Kohlschreiber in Munich (highlights rather disorientatingly set to what sounds like a discarded New Order B-side) and and his first win against Rafael Nadal on clay at the Madrid Open. Last year there were other distractions in France, like this interview in which he was asked to choose his fantasy football team consisting of tennis players. Intriguingly, the left-footed (and right-handed?!) Novak Djokovic slips in at left-back. In the meantime enjoy some classic matches from Roland Garros: John McEnroe v Ivan Lendl in 1984; Nadal vs Djokovic in 2013; Steffi Graf v Martina Hingis in 1999 and Chris Evert v Martina Navratilova in 1985.

4) “Frank, have you seen anybody? Anybody famous?” TV’s Martin Brundle, who will be back on the grid at this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, may wish to forget his visit in 1999 to the principality,: trading awkward banter with Frank Bruno, having his life made difficult by a surprisingly playful Ron Dennis and finally being terminally tampered with by Gerhard Berger.

5) A difficult week for the Indy 500 as motor racing looks hard at safety issues after four very nasty crashes involving: Ed Carpenter; Hélio Castroneves; Josef Newgarden and James Hinchcliffe.

6) Stephen Curry sinks a ridiculous basket from downtown, from three quarters of the way down the court for the Golden State Warriors … but it is his daughter who stole the show in the post-match press conference.

Our favourites from last week’s blog

1) Wow. Wow. Wow. Compelling, beautifully-shot jet ski trickery courtesy of Mark Gomez.

2) Ow. Ow. Ow. One to make anyone wince: here a recent USA v Ireland women’s international. Play to the whistle!

3) Absolutely brilliant: it turns out horse riders now boast protective airbags.

4) Having begun his career at Monts d’Or Azergues Foot, before his career blossomed with Barcelona, PSG, Roma and Monaco, 38-year-old Ludovic Giuly proved he’s still got it with this blinder back at his first club, in the stadium that is now named after him.

5) A curiously enjoyable piece of history: here in the full 1966 World Cup final, as told by German television.

6) Some quite riveting fitness, balancing, jumping and climbing skills are on display in what appears to be a Chilean military obstacle course race.
