Didcot murder inquiry: Man, woman and girl found dead in Oxfordshire Police hunt man suspected of killing three family members in Didcot
(about 2 hours later)
A murder investigation has been launched after a man, woman and girl were found dead by police. Police are hunting a man suspected of killing three members of his family, including a six-year-old girl, at a house in Oxfordshire.
The three bodies were discovered in a house in Didcot, Oxfordshire, after officers were called by a member of the public on Saturday night. The girl’s body was found alongside that of a 46-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man at a property in Didcot on Saturday night.
The identity of the victims and the cause of their deaths have yet to be established, Thames Valley Police said. No arrests have been made. Police on Sunday morning appealed for help in tracing Jed Allen, 21, in connection with the murders. He does not live in the house on Vicarage Road where the bodies were found.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Steel said: “A man, a woman and a girl were pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance staff. Their deaths are being treated as suspicious. Det Supt Chris Ward said he did not believe Allen, who was previously known to the police, posed a threat to the wider public but warned people not to approach him and to contact police immediately should they see him.
“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the loved-ones of the deceased.” “He is described a 6ft tall, he’s of large build and, distinctively, he has a tattoo on his left hand of a spider. It’s very important that we catch him as quickly as we can,” he said.
Officers received the tip-off shortly after 8pm and detectives are keen to hear from witnesses who may have been in the area of Vicarage Road at the time. Have you seen Jed Allen?Wanted in connection with the murders of three people.Call 101 with info (URN 465 24/5) pic.twitter.com/7x10IB4GG9
The bodies were discovered after a call from a member of the public just before 8.30pm on Saturday. Allen is listed on the council’s website as a gardening apprentice. He lives a 20-minute walk away from the property.
Ward refused to speculate on the cause of the deaths ahead of a postmortem examination due to take place on Sunday but said that no firearm was involved.
A resident told the Oxford Mail that he believed the family had only moved into the house about a month ago. The road remained sealed off on Sunday morning as police carried out investigations.
