Dorset Police said "a number of people" attending the Bournemouth 7s festival were taken to hospital on Saturday evening. Dorset Police said eight people attending the Bournemouth 7s festival were taken ill on Saturday evening.
Officers said all were reported to have taken illegal substances but their condition was not believed to be life-threatening. Some were taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital, while others were treated at the scene.
