Berkshire terror raids: Police given extra time to quiz pair
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32944885 Version 0 of 1. Police have been granted extra time to question two people arrested in Berkshire on suspicion of preparing for acts of terrorism in the UK. A 24-year-old man was arrested in Reading and a 23-year-old woman was arrested in Wokingham by counter-terrorism officers, on Friday. The pair, who are believed to be friends, were taken to a police station in the West Midlands for questioning. Detectives now have until June 4 to detain and question the pair. A spokesman from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) said officers were continuing to search their homes and that several items have been removed for forensic examination. The pair presented "no imminent threat to the UK", the spokesman added. The force said the arrests had been intelligence-led. |
