Stabbings at Tufts University fraternity house under investigation | Stabbings at Tufts University fraternity house under investigation |

Police said on Sunday that two young Boston men were stabbed in the neck, one seriously, at a Tufts University fraternity house.
Somerville deputy chief Paul Trant said a “person of interest” was being sought and there was no threat to the surrounding community. He said the people involved in the stabbing knew each other.
Tufts, which said the victims were not affiliated with the university, issued a shelter-in-place order for about three hours early on Sunday.
Trant said police responding to the Delta Tau Delta house just before 4am found the men outside. He said the stabbings appear to have happened inside.
Both victims were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. A 20-year-old was reported to have a serious injury; a 19-year-old’s injury was non-life-threatening.
The stabbing occurred at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house on Professors Row, a street that runs through the Boston-area campus, Tufts spokeswoman Kim Thurler said. | The stabbing occurred at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house on Professors Row, a street that runs through the Boston-area campus, Tufts spokeswoman Kim Thurler said. |
School officials had asked students through social media and email alerts to seek shelter and to lock their doors while police responded to reports of a “serious crime”. The shelter-in-place advisory was lifted at about 8am.
Somerville police spokesman Lieutenant Joseph McCain said investigators were still interviewing witnesses.
Tufts’ commencement was held on 17 May and summer sessions are under way. Even though students may return to their normal activities, there will continue to be an enhanced police presence on campus as the investigation continues, Thurler said. | Tufts’ commencement was held on 17 May and summer sessions are under way.
