Andy Coulson perjury trial: judge sends jury home again

Version 0 of 1. The jury in the perjury trial of former No 10 communications chief Andy Coulson has been sent home to allow further legal issues to be debated. Coulson is alleged to have committed perjury when he gave evidence on phone hacking and payment of officials by the News of the World at the trial of Tommy Sheridan, the socialist politician, in Glasgow in December 2010. Coulson denies all charges. The prosecution concluded its evidence last Tuesday, and the jury at the high court in Edinburgh was sent home because legal matters had arisen which needed to be resolved. Lord Burns told the jury on Monday those debates were continuing. “I regret again to have to tell you that we are not in a position to proceed at this stage and I have to ask, under the circumstances, for you to come back at 10 o’clock on Wednesday,” he said. The trial continues. |
