An investigation is underway after fire crews were called to an Anglesey aluminium works following several reports of an explosion. An aluminium plant on Anglesey is back up and running following reports of an explosion at the site.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of a fire and smoke at the site in London Road, Holyhead, at 03:29 BST on Monday. AMG Alpoco UK Limited, on London Road, Holyhead, was temporarily closed on Monday after smoke and fire was spotted at the factory at about 03:30 BST.
The A55 was closed for a short time between J1 A5 Victoria Road and London Road and J3 A5 (Valley). Fire crews attended, and the company has since said it knows what caused the incident.
Police said it followed concerns about the risk of further explosions. The Health and Safety Executive has been notified.
Multiple agencies attended the site and, after checks, it was declared safe and roads were reopened, a police spokesman said.
