Glastonbury travel: all looking good on roads and rail, so far

Version 0 of 1. The roads and railways are as clear as one might hope for as nearly 200,000 people descend on a farm on Somerset for this year’s Glastonbury festival. Though there are severe delays on the roads in the immediate vicinity of the festival, with traffic management in place on the A37, A361 and A371, there are no problems on the M4 or M5, aside from the usual congestion around the outskirts of London. Even the A303 appears to be moving freely, with average speeds in excess of 50mph. The Glastonbury team have offered the following advice to drivers: “It is important that you approach the site on the side that you want to park. Using local roads to get to the opposite side of the site causes delays so use main roads that are well away from the site. A few extra miles travelled further away can save hours in queues near to the site. Always follow the directional signs, variable message signs and park where directed by staff.” Trains from Paddington to Castle Cary are currently running without delays, but First Great Western offers the following advice to those travelling to Castle Cary: |
