Clifford Clarke murder: Police renew appeal 15 years on

Police have renewed an appeal for information 15 years after a man was stabbed to death in his flat.

Clifford Clarke was found dead in Uppingham, Rutland, on 10 September, 2000, with several stab wounds to his chest and neck.

A number of people have been arrested and released but no one has ever been charged with his murder.

Police said people may have not felt able to offer information about Mr Clarke's death at the time.

They said a small vegetable knife, labelled "Made in Japan", and some keys, were found in a drain close to Mr Clarke's home after his death.

And a shoeprint was found in the blood in his flat.

Det Sgt Kev Burdett said Mr Clarke was well known in the town as Shaky.

"Time has moved on and friendships have changed, you could have pushed it to the back of your mind, thought it no longer mattered. It does, we need to know what you know," he said.

Leicestershire Police reopened the case in 2012, saying advances in forensic science had led to new leads.
