Australian citizenship: What does it mean to you?
Version 0 of 1. The Australian government’s proposed amendments to the Citizenship Act put dual citizens accused of terrorism-related offences at risk of losing their citizenship, prompting questions about what it means to be a citizen. We become citizens by birth or naturalisation. For many of those in Australia who were born overseas, it’s an important part of their migration story. We want to hear what being a citizen means to you, whether you were born an Australian citizen or granted that status. If you were born an Australian citizen, what responsibilities or privileges – if any – do you see as being associated with it? If you were made one, what did it mean to you? Share your stories and experiences with us – via text, photos or videos – and we’ll publish a selection on the site.
