Version 0 of 1.

Three men charged with the murder of two teenagers and a baby who died in a house fire have appeared in court.

Amy Smith and Edward Green, both 17, and Smith’s six-month-old daughter, Ruby-Grace Gaunt, died after a fire in Langley Mill, Derbyshire, in the early hours of Sunday.

On Friday Anthony and Simon Eyre, brothers aged 21 and 24 respectively, appeared at Chesterfield magistrates court with their father, Peter, aged 43. All three are charged with three counts of murder.

Around a dozen members of the deceased’s families watched the hearing, which only lasted for two minutes before district judge Andrew Davison.

The defendants all stood behind glass in the dock and spoke only to give their names and addresses and to confirm that they understood what the judge was saying.

They were accompanied in the dock by three security guards, who separated them.

The family members present sat at the back of the courtroom, in the glass-fronted public gallery.

Davison said the case would be transferred to Nottingham crown court for a preliminary hearing on 10 June, but because bail applications over murder charges are not allowed at the magistrates court, a bail hearing would take place at the crown court on Monday.

Anthony and Peter Eyre, of Sandiacre, and their father, of Long Eaton, were all remanded in custody.
