Australian Isis fighter Khaled Sharrouf may have survived drone strike: report

There is no evidence Australian Islamic State fighter Khaled Sharrouf was killed in a drone attack in Syria, but the death of fellow extremist and friend Mohamed Elomar can be confirmed, it’s been reported. Classified images captured by the US military in al-Raqqah have confirmed the death of Sydney man Elomar, 30, in the drone attack, News Corp has reported on Sunday. One image of Elomar records debris from a four-wheel-drive he was standing beside when the missile struck, with authorities saying the images clearly identify Elomar. Elomar made world headlines after images were posted online of him posing with severed heads. Family members have said Sharrouf was also killed and they have been trying to negotiate the return to Australia from Syria of his five children. |
